Suno v6
Sang 97.5% of our words, kept our bridge and fit a film cue into one minute. Dropped the brushed drums we asked for, and one song took 4 min 25 s.
Suno v4.5
Played every instrument in all three briefs and finished each song in 77 to 87 s. Sang “live” for “leave”, and it is retired on suno.com.
On suno.com, free accounts get only v6-mini, a faster member of the v6 family. For the full API walkthrough, see our Suno API guide.

How we tested
- Models and IDs:
suno-v6andsuno-v4.5. - October 31, 2026, 01:25 UTC: six requests went out at the same moment through OmniaKey's media API, three prompts times two models, one song per request.
- Every request carried the model, type
audio, operationgenerate, input.promptand a title. Test 2 also sentinput.lyrics, and Test 3 setparameters.instrumentalto true. No style tags, nomv, no length setting. - One take per prompt and model: the six songs below are that first take, with no rerolls and nothing picked.
- Time runs from submitting the request to the task reporting
succeeded, polled by our script every 4 seconds. - Each full MP3 went to Gemini 3.8 Flash, a listening model, with its brief. We asked for vocals, lyrics, section start times, when each instrument enters, tempo, the ending, any problems, and a yes or no on every item in the brief. Gemini describes; press play on the clips to judge the sound yourself.
- Lyric check for Test 2: our submitted lyrics against Gemini's transcript, word by word, with section tags dropped and case and punctuation ignored.
- The players are 45-second clips, each starting 8 seconds before the first chorus Gemini marked. Test 3 has no chorus, so its clips start at 0:00 and the v6 clip is the whole 60-second song. Each clip is AAC at 96 kb/s, with a 1 s fade-in and a 2 s fade-out added by us.
- OmniaKey sells API access to both models, so we ran the tests through it. Every price below is Suno's own, not ours.
- Sources: Suno's v6 announcement, pricing page, terms, v4.5 post, help center on models, downloads, download limits and stems, plus OmniaKey's audio docs, all checked October 31, 2026.
Six songs, one take each, is a small sample.
Three tests, same prompts
Test 1: A song from a description only
This test checks whether each model follows a style brief and writes its own lyrics on a theme.
Prompt:
An upbeat indie pop song about leaving a small town for the first time, female lead vocal, jangly electric guitars, handclaps, a big singalong chorus.
Suno v6: First Train Out
Suno v4.5: First Train Out
- Suno v6 (3:08 song, made in 264.6 s): A female lead with backing vocals over electric guitar, drum machine and synth bass from the first second, at 118 BPM. Handclaps and backing vocals join at the chorus at 0:30, and the song ends cleanly. Gemini marked all 7 brief items yes, and its transcript of the chorus reads “I'm going where the road runs wide / Past the water tower, past the county line”.
- Suno v4.5 (2:57 song, made in 81.7 s): A female lead with backing vocals at 118 BPM, opening on acoustic guitar and percussion, with electric guitar at 0:12. Drums, bass, handclaps and backing vocals all arrive at the chorus at 0:24, and the song fades out. Gemini marked all 7 items yes, and its transcript of the chorus reads “I'm going where the road keeps opening wide / With the whole wide world on the passenger side”.
Both wrote their own lyrics on the theme, and both reached for a water tower, a county line and a porch.
Verdict: Tie on the brief, and v4.5 finished in a third of the time. v6 starts with the full band, and v4.5 builds from acoustic guitar to the full band at the chorus. Play both and pick by ear.
Test 2: Our own lyrics
This test checks whether each model sings the words we wrote, follows the section tags and plays the band we asked for.
Style prompt:
Acoustic folk ballad, warm male vocal, fingerpicked guitar, soft upright bass, light brushed drums, 80 BPM.
Our lyrics:
[Verse 1] The seven fifty-two was late again / Rain on the platform, rain on my sleeve / You wrote your number on a paper napkin / And said Lisbon is a good place to leave
[Chorus] So hold the door, hold the door for me / Twelve more stops to the open sea / If the last train's gone, I'll walk the line / Hold the door, I'll be there on time
[Verse 2] Your mother's kitchen, the radio low / Forty-one letters in a biscuit tin / Every one of them asking the same question / Where do we go, and where have you been
[Bridge] Three hundred miles and nothing to say / Except the words I should have said that day
[Chorus] (same as above)
[Outro] Hold the door / Hold the door
Suno v6: Hold the Door
Suno v4.5: Hold the Door
- Suno v6 (2:47 song, made in 76.9 s): Acoustic guitar intro, male vocal at 0:13, upright bass and strings at 0:40, about 74 BPM against the 80 we asked for, clean ending. Gemini marked 5 of 6 brief items yes, with brushed drums missing and strings added, and it marked a bridge at 1:36, as our section tags asked.
- Suno v4.5 (2:46 song, made in 77.4 s): Acoustic guitar intro, male vocal at 0:11, upright bass and brushed drums at 0:33, 78 BPM, clean ending and then 1.3 s of silence. All 6 items were yes. Gemini marked no bridge section, with the bridge lines inside the second verse.
Where the words differ, from Gemini's transcript:
- v6, 153 of 157 words matched (97.5%): “The seven fifty-two was late again” came back as “The seven fifty-two is late again”, plus one extra “Ooh” before the outro.
- v4.5, 150 of 157 words matched (95.5%): “a good place to leave” came back as “a good place to live”, which flips the line's meaning. “I'll walk the line” became “I will walk the line” twice, and one “and” dropped.
Verdict: v6, narrowly. It kept our words and our structure more closely, but played strings instead of the brushed drums. v4.5 played exactly the band we asked for and changed one word that matters, so if the words come first, pick v6.
Test 3: An instrumental cue
This test checks whether each model builds a cue in the order we described, without vocals, at a usable length.
Prompt:
Warm cinematic instrumental for a short product film: felt piano opening, soft strings entering, a gentle pulsing synth, a slow build to a quiet lift at the end, about 90 BPM, no vocals.
Suno v6: Slow Build (whole song)
Suno v4.5: Slow Build
- Suno v6 (1:00 song, made in 71.4 s): Felt piano at 0:00, strings at 0:08, pulsing synth at 0:17, sub bass at the climax at 0:34, outro at 0:51, about 90 BPM, clean ending. All 8 brief items were yes.
- Suno v4.5 (3:13 song, made in 87.3 s): Felt piano at 0:00, pulsing synth at 0:16, strings at 0:21, climax at 2:09, outro at 2:46, about 90 BPM, clean ending. Its last 5 seconds are 20.1 dB quieter than the song's average, and all 8 brief items were yes.
We set no length. v6 put the whole arc into one minute, and v4.5 took three minutes to reach the same shape.
Verdict: v6 for a short film, with the full arc in 60 seconds and no edit needed. v4.5 if you need a longer bed.

How fast is Suno v6, and what files do you get?
The median generation time was 76.9 s on v6 and 81.7 s on v4.5. Five of the six songs took 71 to 87 seconds, and the Test 1 v6 song took 4 min 25 s (264.6 s). That is about three times the others, and outside the 20 seconds to two minutes that OmniaKey's audio docs give as usual.
| Song | Length | Time | Loudness |
|---|---|---|---|
| T1 v6 | 3:08 | 264.6 s | -15.2 LUFS |
| T1 v4.5 | 2:57 | 81.7 s | -14.8 LUFS |
| T2 v6 | 2:47 | 76.9 s | -13.1 LUFS |
| T2 v4.5 | 2:46 | 77.4 s | -15.6 LUFS |
| T3 v6 | 1:00 | 71.4 s | -14.7 LUFS |
| T3 v4.5 | 3:13 | 87.3 s | -16.1 LUFS |
Both models returned one MP3 per request, at 48 kHz, stereo, about 180 kb/s (178.7 to 187.3 kb/s). The file is a single mix with no separate stems. Each download link expired one hour after the song finished, so grab the file as soon as the task reports succeeded.
Test 1 on v6 was the only file at 0.0 dBTP, the ceiling. Suno publishes no sample rate for its own downloads.
What does Suno v6 cost on suno.com?
| Plan | Price | Credits | Downloads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50/day | 7 trial |
| Pro | $8/month | 2,500/month | 20/month |
| Premier | $24/month | 10,000/month | 60/month |
These are Suno's prices on its pricing page, billed yearly, checked October 31, 2026. The 7 trial downloads on the free row apply to free users who joined before September 3, 2026.
One generation costs 10 credits and makes two songs, so Pro's 2,500 credits cover 250 generations a month, or 500 songs, but only 20 downloads. Max Mode costs more credits. WAV downloads come with Pro and Premier on suno.com, and stems cost credits for each extraction.
Through OmniaKey's API, one request returns one song as one MP3. The Suno v6 model page shows the current price.
What changed in v6, and do Suno's claims hold up?
Suno announced v6 on September 9, 2026, in a post by CEO Mikey Shulman. Per Suno's help center, it ships as three models: v6, the flagship, and v6-wild, for exploration, both on Pro and Premier, plus v6-mini, a faster model for everyone, including free users. The post's claims, each with what our test showed:
- Faster. Suno calls v6 faster. Our medians came out about the same, 76.9 s on v6 against 81.7 s on v4.5, and the one slow song was on v6.
- More expressive. Suno calls v6 more expressive. Judge that with the players above, since a listening model's notes cannot settle it.
- Musician language. Suno says v6 understands musician language across vocals, instrumentation and structure. In Test 2 it sang our bridge as its own section, which Gemini marked at 1:36, but played strings instead of the brushed drums we asked for.
- Edits. Suno says v6 can edit part of a song from plain-language instructions and change a single lyric without regenerating the song. We did not test either.
Suno says v6 was developed with Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe. It announced the Warner Music Group partnership on November 25, 2025, and WMG's release says the deal settled their litigation. BMG followed on August 12, 2026, and Believe and TuneCore on September 8, 2026, the day before v6.
Suno v4.5: retired on suno.com, still on the API
Suno's help center says every model before v6 is retired on suno.com, and that your songs stay in your library, unchanged. Suno announced v4.5 on May 1, 2025, saying it improved dynamics, genre accuracy and vocals and allowed songs up to 8 minutes. On OmniaKey's API, the suno-v4.5 ID still returned songs on October 31, 2026, and the mv parameter pins a v4.5-era version, which v6 does not need.
What are users saying about Suno v6?
A Reddit user's post on October 23, 2026 says: “With v6, I'm burning through an insane amount of credits just to get one halfway decent track.”
On October 25, 2026, another Reddit user's post reports: “the sound quality is awful at the end of every track unless you get lucky.”
A third Reddit user's post, from October 15, 2026, goes the other way: “A Suno user here, started with v5.5 now on v6. It's been an amazing experience.”
These come from one Reddit search feed and one thread, which lean negative, and other users there dispute when the late-track problem starts. In our six songs, Gemini flagged no problem in any ending, and ffmpeg found no dropouts inside any song. Suno's own advice for songs longer than two minutes is Max Mode, which costs more credits.
Rights, watermarks and downloads
Suno's terms, revised August 10, 2026 and in force from September 3, 2026, say Pro and Premier subscribers own their output, free-tier output is for personal, non-commercial use, and commercial use requires a download through an approved channel. The terms also let Suno watermark or fingerprint output with the plan tier and download status, and Suno's Believe announcement says it introduced audio watermarking and fingerprinting alongside download limits.
Every plan downloads MP3, and WAV comes with Pro and Premier only. Since September 3, 2026, Pro gets 20 song downloads a month and Premier 60. Free accounts get no monthly song downloads, though free users who joined before that date keep up to 7 trial downloads and can buy more.

Common questions
Is Suno v6 better than v4.5?
In our three tests, v6 was better for lyrics and short cues, and v4.5 for following the instrument list. v6 sang 97.5% of our words against 95.5% and put the whole instrumental arc into 1:00. v4.5 played every instrument in all three briefs and finished each song in 77 to 87 s.
When was Suno v6 released?
Suno announced v6 on September 9, 2026, in a post by CEO Mikey Shulman. The post describes the v6 family: v6, v6-wild and v6-mini.
How much does Suno v6 cost?
Suno's Pro plan, $8 a month billed yearly, includes v6 with 2,500 credits and 20 downloads a month. Premier, $24 a month billed yearly, has 10,000 credits and 60 downloads. Free accounts get only v6-mini, and one generation costs 10 credits for two songs.
Can I still use Suno v4.5?
Not on suno.com, where every model before v6 is retired. On OmniaKey's API, the suno-v4.5 ID still returned songs on October 31, 2026, and the mv parameter pins a v4.5-era version.
How long does a Suno v6 song take?
Two of our three v6 songs took 71.4 s and 76.9 s, and the third took 4 min 25 s. OmniaKey's docs call 20 seconds to two minutes usual, so plan for the slow case.
